What's News?

For the latest news about the WindBooks anthologies, the contributors to the books, or the three editors, see the Articles Page of this website (look for the article entitled "Wind Books news") or click here.

What's New on this Website?

When this website was first put together it was heavy on Crazy Woman Creek information, since both the book and this website were published about the same time. Now, in 2006, we're playing catch-up with the other two anthologies. Click on the book titles in the right-hand column to see the newly-added reviews and stories about Leaning into the Wind and Woven on the Wind.

Will there be any more Wind anthologies?

Nope, sorry. Nancy, Gaydell and Linda have no plans at present to compile another anthology together. They worked on the Wind anthologies for almost a decade, and each of them has other writing and editing projects on which they'd like to concentrate. But they encourage contributors and others to think of topics-- perhaps with a local or regional focus-- and use the vast resources available on the internet to produce somewhat similar collections of writing.

See the articles page of this website for a story about how the Wind anthologies were put together. It can give you some good tips on how to create your own anthology.

Want to submit work to other anthologies?

WyoLitMail, an e-newsletter that covers literary activities in Wyoming and the Rocky Mountain West, often has an “opportunities” section near the end, mentioning writing contests and anthologies looking for submissions.

WyoLitMail is archived online or sign up to receive the newsletter via e-mail. Click on the link in the right-hand column of this website.

Para Publishing is a website about writing and publishing (among other things) by Dan Poynter. The e-newsletter he sends out (back-issues are archived on the Para Publishing site) has a section on "stories wanted."

You can also find an archived list of "stories wanted" at another of Poynter's websites called U-Publish. See the links in the right-hand column.

Otherwise we'd suggest an internet search for terms such as "anthologies," "call for submissions," "stories wanted," or whatever other topic you can think of that might work. Good luck in your search and happy writing.

Check out these articles!

The articles page is expanding. Look for more information about all three anthologies, including new stories about the Leaning into the Wind publication party at Devils Tower in 1997.

If you're promoting a new publication of your own, or helping spread the word about the Wind anthologies, see the Articles Page for the articles on "How to Sell Your Book" (with step-by-step directions on how to set up a booksiging event in your own community) and "How to Write a Press Release" (to help you publicize your event). Look for other tips in the "Past Events" article where previous booksignings are reported.

If you have comments, suggestions or advice on these topics we would love to hear from you.
